In 1976, she became a global celebrity when she scored the first ever perfect 10 on the asymmetric bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. In addition, she went to score six more perfect 10s, which made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years of age. She did more than attract attention from all over the world, she also placed Romania into the limelight. The sports icon gained international fame when she posted a score that was impossible to beat.
