Nadia Elena Comaneci

In 1976, she became a global celebrity when she scored the first ever perfect 10 on the asymmetric bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. In addition, she went to score six more perfect 10s, which made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years of age. She did more than attract attention from all over the world, she also placed Romania into the limelight. The sports icon gained international fame when she posted a score that was impossible to beat. She became a legend that helped promote gymnastics all over the world. Additionally, it altered view of the female athlete in society. Her influence on the Olympics was so significant it is that 2 of her movements, the toe-on move and the release movement, are designated in her honour. Both are classified as being difficult at a high level. Alongside the Olympics and the World Championships, she also put up an impressive performance at both of the World Championships & European Championships. As a result, she became a legendary gymnast as well as one of the most famous athletes anyone has witnessed.
